The Kingdom of Bhutan is a landlocked country in South Asia. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north, the Sikkim state of India and the Chumbi Valley of Tibet in the west, the Arunachal Pradesh state of India in the east and the Assam state of India in the south. The capital of Bhutan is Thimphu.
The country's landscape ranges from lush subtropical plains in the south to the sub-alpine Himalayan Mountains in the north. Elevation rises from 200 m (660 ft.) in the southern foothills to more than 7,000 m (23,000 ft.). This great geographical diversity combined with equally diverse climate conditions contributes to Bhutan's outstanding range of biodiversity and ecosystems

Bhutan was inhabited as early as 2000 BC, although there are no existing records from that time. Historians have theorized that the Bhutanese may have existed between 500 BC and AD 600. The Kingdom is considered one of the smallest population of the world as citizens enjoy the simplicity of life and amazing unspoiled natural environment and cultural heritage. Bhutan is famous with its high mountains, Pine forests, Green Valleys and Rivers.
